A. There is no cost for tutoring. Tutors receive volunteer hours for their service and all of them are excited to help. - Q. Where is the tutor center located?
A. In the media center at Springstead High School for SHS students only, and virtual tutoring is available for all students as an alternative. - Q. When should I schedule a tutoring session?
A. You should schedule a meeting at least a week in advance. - Q. How do I make an appointment?
A. You can schedule an appointment through the website, or through the IB coordinator. - Q. What should I do prior to meeting with a tutor to ensure I’m able to get the most out of the session?
A. Attend class, take notes during the lecture, read assigned material, try homework problems, bring relevant material. - Q. What should I expect to do during a tutoring session?
A. Actively participate in the session by taking notes, asking questions, and demonstrate knowledge of the content covered. - Q.How does a tutor explain the material?
A. Tutors explain concepts using examples similar to the students homework. Unless instructed differently, tutors will only assist with practice problems from within the applicable chapter. - Q. How often can I use tutoring services?
A. The number of sessions students are able to attend is unlimited. - Q.How long is a tutoring session?
A. Sessions can be schedules for between 15 minutes to 1 hour. - Q. Can I have a set weekly appointment?
A. Sessions can be scheduled up to a week in advance. - Q. What times are tutors available for face to face at Springstead?
A. Tutors are available for an hour after school and on weekends. - Q. What options are available to online students?
A. Online students may receive assistance through zoom or Microsoft teams. - Q. What if there are no tutors available when I need help?
A. Check the website to view tutor availability and schedule your appointment ahead of time. - Q. Will my instructor be notified if I meet with a tutor?
A. Unless a student requests it, instructors are not notified when students utilize tutoring services. - Q. What are the safety precautions for covid for face-to-face sessions?
- A. Tutors and students that are not vaccinated is advised to wear face masks throughout the sessions.
A. Bring your own supplies to tutoring sessions: pencils, pens, computers, paper, etc.
A. Bring your own hand sanitizer to each and every session and have it available during your session.
